Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Knocksquire's Herne McSteven proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save Knocksquire from getting a goal against them. After recieving a nice pass, Ballinalack's Raymond Martyn tried to score from far away in the 9th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 10 minutes into the game, Cianán Ryan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Knocksquire's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ballinalack the free kick. In the 10th match minute, Knocksquire was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cianán Ryan to maneuver through the defense. After 12 played minutes Knocksquire got a freekick which was hit by Donald McJohn. 13 minutes into the match, Knocksquire's goal looked a bit too open when Críostóir Kirby came free, but Herne McSteven reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Donald McJohn fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Knocksquire's protests and gave Donald McJohn a yellow card for diving instead. After 17 played minutes Knocksquire got a freekick which was hit by Donald McJohn. 18 minutes into the match, Knocksquire's goalkeeper Herne McSteven had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bow Johnson. Bow Johnson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Críostóir Kirby's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Herne McSteven was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. A collision led to Ballinalack getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Tipper McStephen hit a great ball. Brenda Rutherford fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harrigan McAlphie having to interfere. When Críostóir Kirby came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Ballinalack fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Críostóir Kirby couldn't finish the play. 33 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ballinalack's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Arnold Doherty was slow to take the kick. During this time Knocksquire's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Arnold Doherty almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ballinalack's Harrigan McAlphie did a great save. In the 35th minute Brenda Rutherford shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harrigan McAlphie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raymond Callaghan's late challenge caught a Knocksquire's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Raymond Callaghan helped the player get up and apologised. In the 39th match minute, Ballinalack was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raymond Callaghan to maneuver through the defense. In the 40th minute, Richard McAaron got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

After 50 minutes, Peadair Crowe mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ballinalack and the Knocksquire players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 50th minute, Peadair Crowe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 51st minute of the match, Richard McAaron tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Harrigan McAlphie saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 53rd minute Críostóir Kirby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Herne McSteven saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brenda Rutherford got free with Harrigan McAlphie in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 60th minute Críostóir Kirby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Herne McSteven saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Críostóir Kirby's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Herne McSteven was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. Harrigan McAlphie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Richard McAaron in the 69th minute of the match. Brenda Rutherford's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Harrigan McAlphie read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. 73 minutes into the game, Knocksquire's Brenda Rutherford nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Harrigan McAlphie made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Bow Johnson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Herne McSteven tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Harrigan McAlphie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Richard McAaron, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 88 minutes into the match, Knocksquire's goal looked a bit too open when Críostóir Kirby came free, but Herne McSteven reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 94th minute, Bow Johnson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
