The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Killina's zone, Cáirbre Sheridan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Richard Taylor came out of the goal and Cáirbre Sheridan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Patton McMichel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Patton McMichel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Richard Taylor having to interfere. If Patton McMichel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Donavon Dunne hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. When Ladysbridge's Cáirbre Sheridan in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The wind increased when Donavon Dunne made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tyrone McGlynn got free with Donall McCollion in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Patton McMichel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Killina getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Donan Savic hit a great ball. Cáirbre Sheridan struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Richard Taylor didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ladysbridge. 71 minutes into the match, Patton McMichel notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Killina's Richard Taylor. Richard Taylor was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. There was no doubt that Ladysbridge were the better team. Ladysbridge's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
