The referee ignored Galway Footballers's protests and gave Colmcille Grant a yellow card for diving instead. 9 minutes into the match, Maryfield's goal looked a bit too open when Rownun McMichel came free, but Gavin Frankson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 11th minute, Fionn McJohnny got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Maryfield's Gavin Frankson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Riley Savic in the 15th minute of play. Donal Hamilton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baird Hutton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ryland Taylor in the 19thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Donal Hamilton, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Baird Hutton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maryfield's Baird Hutton got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 27 played minutes Galway Footballers got a freekick which was hit by Colmcille Grant. The long shot by Hayes Harkin in the 28th minute really tested Donal Hamilton's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 33 minutes into the game, Galway Footballers's Riley Savic nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gavin Frankson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Hayes Harkin, 38 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 42nd minute, Maryfield's Baird Hutton dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. In the 46th minute, Riley Savic got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rownun McMichel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 49th minute. Gavin Frankson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rownun McMichel stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ryland Taylor in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Donal Hamilton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. David Colwell's late challenge caught a Galway Footballers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. David Colwell helped the player get up and apologised. After 59 played minutes Maryfield got a freekick which was hit by David Colwell. Rownun McMichel blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gavin Frankson having to make a save. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Galway Footballers's goalkeeper Donal Hamilton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 67 played minutes Galway Footballers got a freekick which was hit by Fionn McJohnny. When Ryland Taylor came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Maryfield fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ryland Taylor couldn't finish the play. Galway Footballers's Donal Hamilton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Baird Hutton in the 74th minute of play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ryland Taylor couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Galway Footballers's zone, Baird Hutton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donal Hamilton came out of the goal and Baird Hutton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 93rd minute of the match Jack Doyle shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Donal Hamilton showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 96th minute Baird Hutton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donal Hamilton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Maryfield fans cheered their team off the field, for while Galway Footballers had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
