Cleary Grant was left in no man's land by his defense there! 14 minutes into the game, Antaine Branson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Cleary Grant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 17th minute, Teddy McPeter left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Earlstown fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. The supporters of Lissivigeen booed when Earlstown was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bantry MaCollin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cleary Grant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teddy McPeter, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. After 37 minutes of play, Earlstown's Beag McOliver made it 0-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cleary Grant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Antaine Branson went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-7 was the resulting score. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-7 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Brannagh Beckett to make the kick off. In the 78th minute Brannagh Beckett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Beineon Duggan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Beineon Duggan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match was over Earlstown could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Lissivigeen throughout the match.
