The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Kingswood AFC's Kristopher Munday quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Sly Stockton, made in the 5th minute of the game. 9 minutes into the match, Stroud's goal looked a bit too open when Orson Ronson came free, but Nicky Payne reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 11th minute, Verne Hylton left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Stroud fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Scott Lonsdale took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 19th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nicky Payne. Stroud's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 21st minute, Eddy Lawson fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Christian Gurney, passed just outside the right post. If Eddy Lawson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 24 minutes into the match, Stroud's Verne Hylton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Christian Gurney narrowly saved just below the crossbar. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Orson Ronson couldn't finish the play. Kristopher Munday recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eddy Lawson to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Orson Ronson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kingswood AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Orson Ronson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nicky Payne breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Robert Bonham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. In the 60th minute of the match Scott Lonsdale shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nicky Payne showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpected shot in the 61st minute by Orson Ronson got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 65 minutes into the match, Kingswood AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Verne Hylton came free, but Christian Gurney reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Orson Ronson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 82 minutes into the match, Orson Ronson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nicky Payne. Stroud's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Orson Ronson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. During the 89th minute of the match Scott Lonsdale completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Scott Lonsdale a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Kingswood AFC getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Scott Lonsdale hit a great ball. Christian Gurney took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jake Brook, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Despite being the better team, Kingswood AFC failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
