Spectators: 6728 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1728, VIP seats: 0) Purbrook's Nicky Forrest started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nicky Forrest fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Grant Hardcastle having to interfere. After 6 minutes of play, Purbrook's Ray Widdrington made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Grant Hardcastle was left in no man's land by his defense there! After having played for 10 minutes, Denis Brent managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Keelby's supporters crossed their fingers, but Denis Brent was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With his leg Laurence Notley managed to avoid a goal in the 11thth minute, when Keelby's Rodney Wardle fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 15 minutes into the match, Nicky Forrest notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Keelby's Grant Hardcastle. Grant Hardcastle was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 19th minute, Jacob Revell ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Grant Hardcastle was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Rodney Wardle was extremely unlucky when he, in the 25th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 29thth minute of the game Ray Widdrington who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Keelby's Grant Hardcastle was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Grant Hardcastle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicky Forrest in the 30th minute of play. Denis Brent sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Rodney Wardle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 45 minutes into the match, Purbrook's goalkeeper Laurence Notley had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rodney Wardle. Denis Brent fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laurence Notley having to interfere. The Keelby players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Purbrook were winning 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Denis Brent was the one to do the kick off. Denis Brent received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Laurence Notley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Ray Widdrington came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Purbrook fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ray Widdrington couldn't finish the play. After 56 played minutes Keelby got a freekick which was hit by Michael Spurgeon. After a rather tough play, Keelby's Spike Saunders got a free kick in the 58th minute. Denis Brent recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 65th minute, one of Purbrook:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Purbrook. In the 67th minute, Carlton Fox made a precise shot to the right of Laurence Notley. Purbrook's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Nicky Forrest struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Grant Hardcastle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Purbrook. In the 74th minute, Keelby's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ray Widdrington fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Ray Widdrington sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rodney Wardle in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Laurence Notley prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Denis Brent sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Laurence Notley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denis Brent in the 96th minute of play. In the 98th minute Michael Spurgeon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laurence Notley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Keelby supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Purbrook's performance. The match ended with a win for Purbrook.
