With a left leg Richie Dolby saved Downham Market from getting behind. 7 minutes into the match, Downham Market's goal looked a bit too open when Miles Golding came free, but Richie Dolby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andre Reed kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Simon Foster's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Denny Seaman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Shane Welch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denny Seaman having to interfere. After 21 played minutes, Wem FC's Jim Lewington shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Richie Dolby came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Wem FC reached it. Kyle Marriot kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Denny Seaman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Shane Welch's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Denny Seaman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Simon Foster, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 26 minutes into the match, Downham Market's goalkeeper Richie Dolby had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ron Millman. Shane Welch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Denny Seaman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Denny Seaman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Simon Foster in the 33rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shane Welch in the 37th minute of play forced Wem FC's goalkeeper Denny Seaman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sam Pollard kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Simon Foster sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ron Millman might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Richie Dolby. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ron Millman ran back to his position shaking his head. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Miles Golding made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Wem FC's zone, Shane Welch stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Denny Seaman came out of the goal and Shane Welch tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Denny Seaman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simon Foster in the 61st minute of the match. Ryan Couch kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. The supporters of Wem FC booed when Downham Market was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reggie Hackney didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Reggie Hackney fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Downham Market's protests and gave Reggie Hackney a yellow card for diving instead. Reggie Hackney kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. The supporters of Downham Market booed when Wem FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sam Pollard didn't get a good kick on the ball. Richie Dolby made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miles Golding in the 83rd minute of play. Sam Pollard's late challenge caught a Downham Market's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sam Pollard helped the player get up and apologised. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
