Nicky Lancaster made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tommy Hatcher in the 5th minute of play. Tommy Hatcher took the ball and in the 6 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nicky Lancaster. Nicky Lancaster dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 9thth minute of the game Tommy Hatcher who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Manchester United fc's Nicky Lancaster was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bobby Long showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Liam Tyrell in the 13th minute of the match. Andre Harding might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bobby Long. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Andre Harding ran back to his position shaking his head. Nicky Lancaster showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommy Hatcher in the 18th minute of the match. After 38 minutes of play, Formby's Eric Hicks made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nicky Lancaster was left in no man's land by his defense there! Tommy Hatcher's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nicky Lancaster read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. Bobby Long made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mick Marshall in the 42nd minute. In the 44th minute, Dion Craddock left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Formby fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Han Collen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Han Collen was the one to do the kick off. Manchester United fc's defense didn't have a chance, in the 53rd minute, when Tommy Hatcher scored to the left of an out of position Nicky Lancaster, making the score, 0-4. 56 minutes into the match, Manchester United fc's goalkeeper Nicky Lancaster had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Stuart Clayson. Nicky Lancaster took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tommy Hatcher, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nicky Lancaster showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tommy Hatcher, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. In the 60th minute Tommy Hatcher shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicky Lancaster saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manchester United fc's Nicky Lancaster played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dion Craddock in the 63rd minute of play. Stuart Clayson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Nicky Lancaster made a huge save. Formby's Louie Lovett was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Nicky Lancaster in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Stuart Clayson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Nicky Lancaster made a huge save. Bobby Long showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mick Marshall, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. 87 minutes into the match, Manchester United fc's goal looked a bit too open when Dion Craddock came free, but Nicky Lancaster reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manchester United fc's Nicky Lancaster played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tommy Hatcher in the 89th minute of play. Eric Hicks could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Nicky Lancaster made a huge save. 92 minutes into the match, Stuart Clayson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nicky Lancaster. Manchester United fc's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Stuart Clayson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-6. Stuart Clayson's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 96thth minute, Nicky Lancaster skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Formby's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
