Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dom Bond started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Formby's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tommy Hatcher was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Formby's Bobby Long played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dom Bond in the 15th minute of play. After having played for 18 minutes, Tommy Hatcher managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Formby's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tommy Hatcher was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 20th minute, Formby's Tommy Hatcher dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. After 22 played minutes Formby got a freekick which was hit by Eric Hicks. Tommy Hatcher fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eddy Barkley having to interfere. In the 27th minute, Russ Jump hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A long shot from Louie Lovett in the 28th minute of play was well struck, but Eddy Barkley made a really good save at the right post. If Stuart Clayson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Russ Jump during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 31st match minute, Liverpool was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Russ Jump to maneuver through the defense. After 32 minutes of play, Formby's Stuart Clayson made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eddy Barkley was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd rose to their feet as Formby's Stuart Clayson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Eddy Barkley. That made the score 3-0 after 36 minutes of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Stuart Clayson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Formby's supporters rose to their feet, but Stuart Clayson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eddy Barkley breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Liverpool's Eddy Barkley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tommy Hatcher in the 41st minute of play. After 45 minutes of play, Formby's Dion Craddock made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eddy Barkley was left in no man's land by his defense there! Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tommy Hatcher stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tommy Hatcher in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eddy Barkley prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Eddy Barkley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stuart Clayson in the 53rd minute of play. Eddy Barkley stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tommy Hatcher's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. If Dom Bond had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Graeme Farmer charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Graeme Farmer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Liverpool's Graeme Farmer got a free kick in the 58th minute. Tommy Hatcher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Formby booed when Liverpool was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Glen Dryden didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stuart Clayson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eddy Barkley having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tommy Hatcher in the 66th minute of play forced Liverpool's goalkeeper Eddy Barkley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stuart Clayson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tommy Hatcher received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Eddy Barkley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eddy Barkley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommy Hatcher in the 85th minute of the match. After 85 played minutes Liverpool got a freekick which was hit by Glen Dryden. Formby's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
