Spectators: 7543 (Terracing: 5659, Seating: 1734, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Bradley Dunn started the match with the kick off. Pat Sykes charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pat Sykes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Pat Sykes kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Fitz Gray kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Kirk Tomlin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but William Mallon made a huge save. Kirk Tomlin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 18 minutes of play, Hardly Athletic's Kirk Tomlin made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. William Mallon was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ashley Dobson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kirk Tomlin took the ball and in the 29 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised William Mallon. William Mallon dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. When Ashley Dobson fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hardly Athletic's protests and gave Ashley Dobson a yellow card for diving instead. In the 34th minute, Ashley Dobson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ashley Dobson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kirk Tomlin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Ronnie McRobbie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ashley Dobson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 61 minutes into the match, Hardly Athletic's Ashley Dobson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that William Mallon narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Ashley Dobson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Ronnie McRobbie came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Hardly Athletic fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronnie McRobbie couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Elland Road Faithful defense, Kirk Tomlin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of William Mallon. The Elland Road Faithful fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that William Mallon should have stopped the shot. William Mallon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ashley Dobson in the 78th minute of the match. Ashley Dobson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ashley Dobson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. William Mallon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kirk Tomlin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hardly Athletic's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
