Trev Howarth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ash Wing, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 11th minute, Ash Wing made a precise shot to the right of Trev Howarth. Crystal Palace's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Deon Way made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Sebastien Swain sent off a good shot on target. Deon Way had great luck who in the 19thth minute grab hold of the ball when Basil Elding from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Marty Hartley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 31 minutes, Marty Hartley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wirral Rubbish's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marty Hartley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sebastien Swain came free with the goalkeeper in the 32nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Deon Way could save by the left post. A collision led to Wirral Rubbish getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Olly Gildea hit a great ball. Sacha Wild recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Crystal Palace's Kasey Heath got a free kick in the 42nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Ash Wing managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wirral Rubbish's supporters rose to their feet, but Ash Wing was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Trev Howarth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half Wirral Rubbish were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After having played for 52 minutes, Ash Wing managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wirral Rubbish's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ash Wing was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wirral Rubbish's Marty Hartley got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 57 minutes into the match, Crystal Palace's goalkeeper Trev Howarth had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marty Hartley. 60 minutes into the game, Crystal Palace's Basil Elding nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Deon Way made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After a rather tough play, Wirral Rubbish's Olly Gildea got a free kick in the 63rd minute. In the 66th minute, Ash Wing got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wirral Rubbish's Jason Sercombe was substituted for Sacha Wild. Basil Elding sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jason Sercombe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Trev Howarth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marty Hartley, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Jason Sercombe came free in the 85th minute and tried to tip the ball over Trev Howarth, but to the joy of Crystal Palace's supporters the ball went over. Albert Cryer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Trev Howarth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Marty Hartley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 93rd minute Basil Elding shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Deon Way saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jason Sercombe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 96 minutes into the game, Wirral Rubbish's Marty Hartley nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Trev Howarth made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Wirral Rubbish's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
