Trev Howarth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Crystal Palace's zone, Darryl Beswetherick stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Trev Howarth came out of the goal and Darryl Beswetherick tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Tosh Lonsdale fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ironville's protests and gave Tosh Lonsdale a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Ironville's Tosh Lonsdale got a free kick in the 44th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rich Stone was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd match minute, Ironville was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tosh Lonsdale to maneuver through the defense. Ash Butterworth recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rich Stone fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trev Howarth having to interfere. Ash Butterworth scored 4-0 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Trev Howarth, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ash Butterworth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 67 minutes of play, Ironville's Rich Stone made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Trev Howarth was left in no man's land by his defense there! Crystal Palace's Trev Howarth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rich Stone in the 71st minute of play. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Crystal Palace's goalkeeper Trev Howarth, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Rich Stone came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Ironville fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rich Stone couldn't finish the play. 83 minutes into the match, Rich Stone had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Trev Howarth. Crystal Palace's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rich Stone was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Calvin Coates during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ash Butterworth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Trev Howarth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
