Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Laurence Chiverton got the match started through his kick off. 1-0 became the score in the 5th minute when Austen Stone elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The supporters of South Benfleet FC booed when Gillingham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laurence Chiverton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Austen Stone in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Silvester Robson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Luke Sedgemore's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Silvester Robson was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Gillingham's zone, Austen Stone stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Silvester Robson came out of the goal and Austen Stone tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Austen Stone fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvester Robson having to interfere. In the 28th minute Laurence Chiverton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfred Hunt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laurence Chiverton in the 29th minute of play forced South Benfleet FC's goalkeeper Alfred Hunt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. South Benfleet FC's Simon Bellamy quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Jeremy Dobby, made in the 32nd minute of the game. Alfred Hunt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Martin Murtagh went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Alfred Hunt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laurence Chiverton in the 38th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Austen Stone in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Silvester Robson saved Gillingham from getting behind. Alfred Hunt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Murtagh in the 43rd minute of play. Austen Stone fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvester Robson having to interfere.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Austen Stone to strike the kick off in the second half. If Rupert Dunne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alfred Hunt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gwyn Frost in the 54th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Martin Murtagh got free with Alfred Hunt in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Luke Sedgemore fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored South Benfleet FC's protests and gave Luke Sedgemore a yellow card for diving instead. In the 55th minute, Luke Sedgemore hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alfred Hunt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurence Chiverton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alfred Hunt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gwyn Frost, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. The supporters of South Benfleet FC booed when Gillingham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Noel Haseldine didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rupert Dunne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A sloppy throw-in by Jeremy Dobby in the 70th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by South Benfleet FC's Simon Bellamy. Alfred Hunt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurence Chiverton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Silvester Robson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Austen Stone's shot from short distance in the 76th minute. Luke Sedgemore sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 79th minute, Austen Stone left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The South Benfleet FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. Alfred Hunt came out of the goal in the 88th minute to try and stop a shot by Gillingham's Rupert Dunne. But to his dismay, Rupert Dunne quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-3. After a defensive mix-up in Gillingham's zone, Austen Stone stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Silvester Robson came out of the goal and Austen Stone tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 94th minute of the match Rowan Timiney shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Silvester Robson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 94 played minutes Gillingham got a freekick which was hit by Gwyn Frost. A collision led to Gillingham getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Jeremy Dobby hit a great ball. Danny Humphreys missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 97 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Silvester Robson right hand side. The Gillingham players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented South Benfleet FC from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
