After 9 minutes, Graeme Littlechild mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hydro Fc and the Holy Smoke players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Hydro Fc getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Graeme Littlechild hit a great ball. With his leg Jason Deakin managed to avoid a goal in the 10thth minute, when Holy Smoke's Tommy Baldwin fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Hydro Fc's Jason Deakin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Hydro Fc from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Tommy Baldwin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Holy Smoke's supporters rose to their feet, but Tommy Baldwin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jason Deakin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jason Deakin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tommy Baldwin in the 16th minute. In the 19th minute, Tommy Baldwin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bryan Birch recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Jack Cheeseman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Holy Smoke's supporters rose to their feet, but Jack Cheeseman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jason Deakin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tommy Baldwins short, quick shot in the 25thth minute got Jason Deakin to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Jason Deakin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tommy Baldwin's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Jack Cheeseman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Joe Story-Moore made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Will Wood in the 34th minute of play. After 36 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Holy Smoke! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tommy Baldwin in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jason Deakin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A hard shot 45 in the game by Tommy Baldwin from a close distance when the talented Jason Deakin managed to make a qualified save. Hydro Fc's players were relieved. Philip Purkiss's late challenge caught a Holy Smoke's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Philip Purkiss helped the player get up and apologised. In the 46th minute, Philip Purkiss hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sammy Denham was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st match minute, Holy Smoke was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ruben Nevin to maneuver through the defense. In the 52nd minute, Sammy Denham got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 57 minutes into the match, Tommy Baldwin notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Hydro Fc's Jason Deakin. Jason Deakin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jo Reeve sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Tommy Baldwin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jason Deakin was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. Holy Smoke's Jack Cheeseman got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jack Cheeseman scored 3-1 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jason Deakin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jason Deakin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tommy Baldwin's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Hydro Fc's goalkeeper Jason Deakin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 83rd minute Bryan Birch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jason Deakin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jason Deakin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tommy Baldwin, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute.
