The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Wilnecote Wanders's Nath West got a free kick in the 6th minute. In the 13th minute, Martin Bayford got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wilnecote Wanders's Rory Whiteley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antony Fairfax in the 15th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Wilnecote Wanders's zone, Antony Fairfax stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rory Whiteley came out of the goal and Antony Fairfax tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Wayne Bensley came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Doncaster Rovers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wayne Bensley couldn't finish the play. Ivan Ainge hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. 23 minutes into the game, one of Wilnecote Wanders:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Wilnecote Wanders:s Rory Whiteley showed great skill when he stopped Antony Fairfax:s penalty. Antony Fairfax sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 31st minute, Lennie Winstanley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 31 played minutes, Doncaster Rovers's Antony Fairfax shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rory Whiteley came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Doncaster Rovers reached it. Despite close surveillance by the defense, Junior Swain managed to send off a shot that put the ball into the goal to the left of a disappointed goalkeeper. 1-0 in the 35th minute. In the 39th minute, Antony Fairfax hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rory Whiteley made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Antony Fairfax sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Wilnecote Wanders's Ivan Ainge got a free kick in the 55th minute. 57 minutes into the game, Doncaster Rovers's Antony Fairfax nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rory Whiteley made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Doncaster Rovers's Wayne Bensley got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rory Whiteley was out of position in the 67 minute of play, and Martin Bayford capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Martin Bayford really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. Ivan Ainge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Dan Nash tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Wilnecote Wanders's zone, Martin Bayford stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rory Whiteley came out of the goal and Martin Bayford tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Martin Bayford kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rory Whiteley. That made the score 2-3 in the 78 minute of play. In the 83rd minute, Wayne Bensley made a precise shot to the right of Rory Whiteley. Wilnecote Wanders's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-4. After 90 played minutes Wilnecote Wanders got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Ainge. In the 92nd minute Martin Bayford shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rory Whiteley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Antony Fairfax recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 95th minute Antony Fairfax shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rory Whiteley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
