Matthew Airton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerry Garrett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kris Sheppard in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Matthew Airton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of googs n moos booed when Knottingley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jerome Perryman didn't get a good kick on the ball. 22 minutes into the match, googs n moos's Stu Dry broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. When googs n moos's Malcolm Bastow in 23 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Roger Cousens guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. If Gerry Garrett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Roger Cousens made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Rueben Hinshelwood sent off a good shot on target. If Rueben Hinshelwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in googs n moos's zone, Gerry Garrett stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matthew Airton came out of the goal and Gerry Garrett tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Matthew Airton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kris Sheppard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Knottingley's goalkeeper Roger Cousens, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Malcolm Bastow made a kick off. In the 58th minute, Gerry Garrett got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gerry Garrett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The attack was good, but when Rueben Hinshelwood in the 61st minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. 64 minutes in the game, Kris Sheppard fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Matthew Airton having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Knottingley's Lennie Rusk got a free kick in the 67th minute. When the match had gone on for 70 minutes, Kris Sheppard put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Matthew Airton. Rueben Hinshelwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roger Cousens having to interfere. Matthew Airton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerry Garrett in the 88th minute of play. Matthew Airton was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Kris Sheppard showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 92 minute of play. The googs n moos supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Knottingley's performance. The match ended with a win for Knottingley.
