Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Zack Corcoran took the kick off in the first half of the match. With a little luck, Ironville City's Ross Blackburn got control of the ball when Kris Sheppard tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gerry Garrett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ross Blackburn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gerry Garrett in the 18th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Ironville City's zone, Kris Sheppard stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ross Blackburn came out of the goal and Kris Sheppard tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kris Sheppard succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 28th playminute. The crowd rose to their feet as Knottingley's Gerry Garrett slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ross Blackburn. That made the score 3-1 after 36 minutes of play. If Gerry Garrett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Donald Huckerby kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gerry Garrett to make the kick off. After having played for 53 minutes, Gerry Garrett managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Knottingley's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gerry Garrett was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Knottingley's Gerry Garrett got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 60 minutes, Jerome Perryman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Knottingley and the Ironville City players grew even worse after the yellow card. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zack Corcoran in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roger Cousens saved Knottingley from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Ironville City's zone, Gerry Garrett stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ross Blackburn came out of the goal and Gerry Garrett tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Knottingley booed when Ironville City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dylan Clark didn't get a good kick on the ball. 73 minutes into the match, Knottingley's goal looked a bit too open when Zack Corcoran came free, but Roger Cousens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Kris Sheppard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kris Sheppard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Ross Blackburn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerry Garrett in the 84th minute of play forced Ironville City's goalkeeper Ross Blackburn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ross Blackburn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kris Sheppard, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute.
