To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rupert Hallam made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benjamin Barnfield in the 10th minute. If Syd Frost had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Chichester FC booed when Chelski FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andre Bevan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Will Adamson charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Will Adamson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Chichester FC's Rupert Hallam tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Duncan McNiven showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denis Togwell, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. When Denis Togwell came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Chichester FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Denis Togwell couldn't finish the play. Syd Frost scored 2-1 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Duncan McNiven, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Syd Bull kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Benjamin Barnfield sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 43rd minute Lennie Charlton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rupert Hallam saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Jake McRobbie fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chichester FC's protests and gave Jake McRobbie a yellow card for diving instead. 49 minutes into the match, Chelski FC's Junior Preston broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lennie Charlton stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Benjamin Barnfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rupert Hallam having to interfere. Rupert Hallam made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benjamin Barnfield in the 58th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Chichester FC's zone, Lennie Charlton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rupert Hallam came out of the goal and Lennie Charlton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Lennie Charlton's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rupert Hallam was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. In the 63rd minute, Lennie Charlton ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rupert Hallam was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Denis Togwell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Lennie Charlton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lennie Charlton struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Rupert Hallam didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chelski FC. Rupert Hallam was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 85 minutes of play, Chichester FC's Syd Frost made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Duncan McNiven was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Syd Frost got free with Duncan McNiven in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Benjamin Barnfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chichester FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
