Spectators: 7604 (Terracing: 5704, Seating: 1749, VIP seats: 151) Jay Newman started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Jay Newman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Morpeth's supporters rose to their feet, but Jay Newman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Glyn Conway breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Stuart Bartlett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaz Thornton having to interfere. Billy Rashleigh hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Morpeth's zone, Stuart Bartlett stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gaz Thornton came out of the goal and Stuart Bartlett tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Damon Hart in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gaz Thornton saved Morpeth from getting behind. Jay Newman struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Glyn Conway didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Morpeth. Freddie Beasley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gaz Thornton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damon Hart in the 24th minute of play. Damon Hart recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gaz Thornton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stuart Bartlett, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stuart Bartlett in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gaz Thornton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ron Anson hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Benji Bittner was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 33rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Damon Hart's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gaz Thornton was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. 40 minutes into the match, Morpeth's goal looked a bit too open when Damon Hart came free, but Gaz Thornton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stuart Bartlett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaz Thornton having to interfere. Stuart Bartlett's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gaz Thornton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Jay Newman's late challenge caught a Hawkstone United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. When Travis Ely fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Morpeth's protests and gave Travis Ely a yellow card for diving instead. In the 56th match minute, Morpeth was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Travis Ely to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 62 minutes, Stuart Bartlett managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hawkstone United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stuart Bartlett was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 64thth minute of the game Stuart Bartlett who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Morpeth's Gaz Thornton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nicky Featherson charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. But to his dismay, Damon Hart quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Hawkstone United's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
