If Andy Gilchrist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andy Gilchrist received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Dale Armitage tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonathon Griggs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Donny Lockwood in the 21st minute of the match. After having played for 24 minutes, Simon Elding managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Boscombe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Simon Elding was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Andy Gilchrist recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Andy Gilchrist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Boscombe's defense didn't have a chance, in the 34th minute, when Andy Gilchrist scored to the left of an out of position Dale Armitage, making the score, 2-0. In the 39th play minute Lance Swanson came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Dale Armitage. 3-0. In the 44th match minute, Canvey Island was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lance Swanson to maneuver through the defense. In the 47th minute Andy Gilchrist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dale Armitage saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lance Swanson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Dale Armitage tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Andy Gilchrist to strike the kick off in the second half. Zak Harrington kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Dale Armitage made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lance Swanson in the 56th minute of play. Nicholas Clifford's late challenge caught a Boscombe's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nicholas Clifford helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Boscombe booed when Canvey Island was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicholas Clifford didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was beautiful to see Boscombe's Zak Harrington in action when he in the 59th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! When Simon Elding came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Boscombe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Simon Elding couldn't finish the play. If Andy Gilchrist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lance Swanson struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Dale Armitage didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Canvey Island. Canvey Island's Jonathon Griggs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Donny Lockwood in the 71st minute of play. Simon Elding fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathon Griggs having to interfere. Lance Swanson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 77th minute, Sammy Elding hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 85th minute, Andy Gilchrist got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Andy Gilchrist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lance Swanson in the 94th minute of play forced Boscombe's goalkeeper Dale Armitage to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Canvey Island walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
