He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Brompton FC reached it. Iain Layfield made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Josh Fry sent off a good shot on target. Brynn Pettifer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Basil Delamore tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Iain Layfield dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Stuart Beresford took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 39th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Iain Layfield. Brompton FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Josh Fry got free with Iain Layfield in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ron Millman hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Francis Pointon in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Iain Layfield saved Brompton FC from getting behind. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Francis Pointon made a kick off. Ron Millman's late challenge caught a Sunderland's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ron Millman helped the player get up and apologised. Josh Fry sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 72nd minute, Francis Pointon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
