Seating: 1500, VIP seats: 100) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Francis Pointon made the kick off which started today's match. In the 3rd minute Francis Pointon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tris Long saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Jermaine Lowndes fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cleckheaton's protests and gave Jermaine Lowndes a yellow card for diving instead. Ashley Webster in the 9thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Basil Delamore, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Tris Long made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francis Pointon in the 12th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Dion Busby hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Cleckheaton's zone, Josh Fry stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tris Long came out of the goal and Josh Fry tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dion Busby kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Francis Pointon struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Tris Long didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sunderland. Cleckheaton's Tris Long played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Josh Fry in the 25th minute of play. Francis Pointon struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Tris Long didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sunderland. Tris Long took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francis Pointon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Cleckheaton's Eric Addison slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Basil Delamore. That made the score 1-0 after 33 minutes of play. Sunderland's Josh Fry got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cleckheaton's Tris Long played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Griffin in the 40th minute of play. Sunderland's defense didn't have a chance, in the 43rd minute, when Ashley Webster scored to the left of an out of position Basil Delamore, making the score, 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ashley Webster got free with Basil Delamore in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
Kris Parks recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sunderland's Francis Pointon got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 56th minute, Dion Busby hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benji Delamore kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Ashley Webster put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Basil Delamore. Josh Fry could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Tris Long made a huge save. Edward Griffin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sunderland's Francis Pointon got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Sunderland booed when Cleckheaton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Seth Edgson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sunderland's Josh Fry got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tris Long was a little too slow when Francis Pointon got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 87th minute. The score was now 3-2. Basil Delamore showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brendon Mayfield, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Tris Long made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francis Pointon in the 92nd minute of play. Josh Fry received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Tris Long tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 97 minutes into the game, Francis Pointon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sunderland's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cleckheaton the free kick. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Cleckheaton fans cheered their team off the field, for while Sunderland had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
