Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) When Vince Beecham fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marden FC's protests and gave Vince Beecham a yellow card for diving instead. After 5 played minutes Marden FC got a freekick which was hit by Vince Beecham. Todd Hudson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Iain Layfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 11th minute, Darryl Prince hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Darren Goodwin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kev Connell's late challenge caught a Marden FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kev Connell helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Marden FC booed when Brompton FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kev Connell didn't get a good kick on the ball. Romeo Fowler showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tom Norton in the 25th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Marden FC's Keith Glanvill got a free kick in the 29th minute. After recieving a nice pass, Brompton FC's Lance Butterworth tried to score from far away in the 30th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Todd Hudson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After recieving a nice pass, Marden FC's Victor Norton tried to score from far away in the 34th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. When Todd Hudson came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Marden FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Todd Hudson couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darren Goodwin in the 45th minute of play forced Brompton FC's goalkeeper Iain Layfield to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Todd Hudson scored 0-2 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Iain Layfield, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half Marden FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tom Norton stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Todd Hudson in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Iain Layfield saved Brompton FC from getting behind. With a little luck, Brompton FC's Iain Layfield got control of the ball when Darren Goodwin tried to sneak it across the goal line. Todd Hudson kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. With 63 minutes on the clock, Sean Watson commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 63rd minute of the game. One of Marden FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Brompton FC:s goal. A collision led to Marden FC getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Lance Bartrup hit a great ball. Darren Goodwins short, quick shot in the 82ndth minute got Iain Layfield to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 87th minute Tom Norton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeo Fowler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Darren Goodwin came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Marden FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Darren Goodwin couldn't finish the play. Darren Goodwin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 97 minutes into the match, Brompton FC's goalkeeper Iain Layfield had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Darren Goodwin. The Brompton FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Marden FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
