After 20 played minutes Harleston United got a freekick which was hit by Eddie Shakespeare. St Arsene Fc were awarded a corner in the 23th minute after Harleston United's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Brandon Whalley took the corner. Sly Christensen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sly Christensen made a kick off. Malcolm Hislop received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Roger Whitworth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. St Arsene Fc's Sly Christensen got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Eddie Shakespeare fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Harleston United's protests and gave Eddie Shakespeare a yellow card for diving instead. Brandon Whalley walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. When Carlton Spurgeon came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Harleston United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlton Spurgeon couldn't finish the play. Ted Burrows showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Neil Liddle in the 75th minute of the match. The Harleston United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Carlton Spurgeon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ted Burrows having to interfere. The St Arsene Fc players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Harleston United from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
