Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Ashley Webster kicked off to start the match. 15 minutes into the game, Kev Connell was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Brompton FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cleckheaton the free kick. A collision led to Brompton FC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Kev Connell hit a great ball. Iain Layfield showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ashley Webster, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Ashley Webster fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iain Layfield having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Cleckheaton's Benji Delamore got a free kick in the 24th minute. In the 27th minute, Kev Connell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ashley Webster struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Iain Layfield didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cleckheaton. After some careless play in the Brompton FC defense, Eric Addison kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Iain Layfield. The Brompton FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Iain Layfield should have stopped the shot. In the 35th minute Eric Addison shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iain Layfield saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kris Parks sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Ashley Webster managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cleckheaton's supporters rose to their feet, but Ashley Webster was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Iain Layfield breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kev Connell was shown his second yellow card after 41 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Cleckheaton booed when Brompton FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kev Connell didn't get a good kick on the ball. Iain Layfield didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kris Parks went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score.

The wind increased when Brynn Pettifer made the kick off in the second half. Tris Long made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lance Butterworth in the 53rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Ashley Webster managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cleckheaton's supporters rose to their feet, but Ashley Webster was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Iain Layfield breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dion Busby fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iain Layfield having to interfere. Brynn Pettifer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dion Busby recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dion Busby's late challenge caught a Brompton FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dion Busby helped the player get up and apologised. Iain Layfield stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ashley Webster's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. When Eric Addison came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Cleckheaton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eric Addison couldn't finish the play. Brompton FC's Iain Layfield played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eric Addison in the 84th minute of play. In the 85th minute, Brompton FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Kris Parks fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ashley Webster in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Iain Layfield prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ashley Webster sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Cleckheaton booed when Brompton FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tom Norton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dion Busby received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Iain Layfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cleckheaton played a much better game than Brompton FC and deserved their victory. The Brompton FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
