In the 28thth minute of the game Jeffrey Boyce who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Barnsley's Will Bowland was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 30 minutes, Dom Jones managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barnsley's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dom Jones was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 33 minutes, Vern Tisdale mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Barnsley and the Dewsbury players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Barnsley's Vern Tisdale got a free kick in the 34th minute. Rufus Impey's long shot made the audience stand up and applaude when it rumbled by Will Bowland on his right side and into the goal. 34 minutes into the game it was 0-3. Marty Leighton acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 39th minute, took the ball on the long shot from George Stevens. Dale Atkins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Dale Atkins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Will Bowland showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Markinson, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Dom Jones could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Marty Leighton made a huge save. The Barnsley players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Dewsbury were winning 0-3.

Marty Leighton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dale Atkins, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Will Bowland made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when David Markinson sent off a good shot on target. In the 90th minute, Tyler Rider had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. The supporters of Dewsbury booed when Barnsley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Charlie Sutton didn't get a good kick on the ball.
