Spectators: 5149 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 149) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Brendon Gale made the kick off which started today's match. Norman Vaughn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Wally Laverick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Liam Tabb charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Liam Tabb the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Essex Gang's Liam Tabb got a free kick in the 15th minute. 16 minutes into the game, Donald Clifton cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Cliff Probert was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Norman Vaughn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jools Cole hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Cliff Probert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damian Snowden in the 38th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Essex Gang's zone, Donald Clifton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cliff Probert came out of the goal and Donald Clifton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Damian Snowden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cliff Probert having to interfere. Cliff Probert came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Lindfield's Donald Clifton. But to his dismay, Donald Clifton quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 48th minute, Damian Snowden got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

Damian Snowden struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Cliff Probert didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lindfield. 71 minutes into the game, Essex Gang's Brendon Gale nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wally Laverick made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Norman Vaughn's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wally Laverick read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. Lindfield's Wally Laverick played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Norman Vaughn in the 83rd minute of play. After 86 played minutes Lindfield got a freekick which was hit by Donald Clifton. The supporters of Lindfield booed when Essex Gang was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Liam Tabb didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cliff Probert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damian Snowden, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Donald Clifton did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-3 to the left of a surprised Cliff Probert 94 minutes into the match. In the 97th match minute, Essex Gang was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brendon Gale to maneuver through the defense. Lindfield played a much better game than Essex Gang and deserved their victory. The Essex Gang players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
