Spectators: 6725 (Terracing: 5000,
Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Jeffrey Boyce started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Dewsbury's goalkeeper Marty Leighton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Martin Braithwaite. A collision led to Dewsbury getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Marek Pinder hit a great ball. David Markinson scored 0-1 in the 6th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Simon Faulkner, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jeffrey Boyce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hailsham's Simon Faulkner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeffrey Boyce in the 14th minute of play. If David Markinson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Simon Faulkner took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeffrey Boyce, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 20 minutes into the match, Hailsham's goal looked a bit too open when Jeffrey Boyce came free, but Simon Faulkner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, Alfred Krief was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hailsham's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dewsbury the free kick. Alfred Krief hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. In the 22nd minute, Jeffrey Boyce got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jeffrey Boyce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 25 minutes into the match, David Markinson notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Hailsham's Simon Faulkner. Simon Faulkner was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jeffrey Boyce received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Simon Faulkner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jeffrey Boyce had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, David Markinson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dewsbury's supporters rose to their feet, but David Markinson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Simon Faulkner breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Simon Faulkner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeffrey Boyce in the 37th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Hailsham defense, Jeffrey Boyce kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Simon Faulkner. The Hailsham fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Simon Faulkner should have stopped the shot. David Markinson struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Simon Faulkner didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dewsbury. Simon Faulkner took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeffrey Boyce, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wes Knott was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Hailsham's Alfred Krief got a free kick in the 52nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Jeffrey Boyce managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dewsbury's supporters rose to their feet, but Jeffrey Boyce was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Simon Faulkner breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. David Markinson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Simon Faulkner stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jeffrey Boyce's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. Simon Faulkner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeffrey Boyce, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. The audience was convinced that Jeffrey Boyce's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Simon Faulkner was relentless in the 85th minute of the game. 90 minutes into the game, David Markinson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-5. Simon Faulkner was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, Hailsham's Simon Faulkner got control of the ball when David Markinson tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Hailsham fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Dewsbury were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
