Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Kev Foley started the match with the kick off. Norman Vaughn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 2nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 4 minutes, Nigel Rowland mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Essex Gang and the Long Hanborough AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Essex Gang's Nigel Rowland got a free kick in the 4th minute. A collision led to Essex Gang getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Jon Marler hit a great ball. Cliff Probert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kev Foley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Essex Gang's goalkeeper Cliff Probert, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 12th minute, Kev Foley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gerry Trunks could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Cliff Probert made a huge save. Essex Gang's Cliff Probert proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Essex Gang from getting a goal against them. Kev Foley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cliff Probert having to interfere. When Neil Young fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Long Hanborough AFC's protests and gave Neil Young a yellow card for diving instead. Neil Young hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Neil Young fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cliff Probert having to interfere. In the 35th minute, Kev Foley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cliff Probert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kev Foley, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Neil Young recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cliff Probert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kev Foley in the 42nd minute of play. 43 minutes into the game, Liam Tabb was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Essex Gang's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Long Hanborough AFC the free kick. After 43 played minutes Essex Gang got a freekick which was hit by Liam Tabb. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Long Hanborough AFC's Kev Foley in the 44th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Cliff Probert was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Essex Gang through an amazing save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Neil Young got free with Cliff Probert in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kev Foley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Cliff Probert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Brendon Gale to make the kick off. If Neil Young had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Neil Young sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cliff Probert stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kev Foley's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. Cliff Probert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Neil Young in the 64th minute of the match. Cliff Probert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Neil Young, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Long Hanborough AFC booed when Essex Gang was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jon Marler didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kev Foley blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cliff Probert having to make a save. After having played for 72 minutes, Neil Young managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Long Hanborough AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Neil Young was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Essex Gang getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Brendon Gale hit a great ball. Neil Young received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Cliff Probert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kev Foley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Essex Gang's zone, Neil Young stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cliff Probert came out of the goal and Neil Young tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Essex Gang's goalkeeper Cliff Probert, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Long Hanborough AFC were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Essex Gang to leave the ground with a draw.
