The corner led Bootle United's Sam Barrett to fire away a dangerous shot which Trev Davey despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After a rather tough play, Bootle United's Ash Steele got a free kick in the 18th minute. Trev Davey made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Sam Barrett sent off a good shot on target. Ash Steele received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Trev Davey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marlon Smith blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Trev Davey having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Halesowen FC's zone, Sam Barrett stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Trev Davey came out of the goal and Sam Barrett tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rhys Brearley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl Rushmere in the 28th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sam Barrett got free with Trev Davey in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marlon Smith could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Trev Davey made a huge save. In the 34th minute, Ronny Poate hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 36 minutes had been played when some careless play by Halesowen FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. John Renner was slow to take the kick. During this time Bootle United's players had a chance to rest. At last the ball reached Leigh Holloway at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Halesowen FC. 1-0. Benjamin Hughes charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
