Renton United's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The supporters of Renton United booed when Beverley Saints F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Colin Stone didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Fred Toovey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Beverley Saints F.C.'s Henry Malpeli couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 24th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Renton United. If Lenny Horner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 29 minutes into the match, Beverley Saints F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Fred Toovey came free, but Stuart Sawyer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Jay Peat had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute, Fred Toovey got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jay Peat fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stuart Sawyer having to interfere. Colin Stone's late challenge caught a Renton United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Stuart Sawyer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fred Toovey's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. 43 minutes into the match, Beverley Saints F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Fred Toovey came free, but Stuart Sawyer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Damian Keane took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lenny Horner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lenny Horner to make the kick off. Beverley Saints F.C.'s Samuel Evans managed to work through Renton United's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Samuel Evans dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. 55 minutes into the match, Renton United's goal looked a bit too open when Lenny Horner came free, but Damian Keane reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Damian Keane showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lenny Horner in the 59th minute of the match. Samuel Evans's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Damian Keane read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. In the 66th minute of the match, Samuel Evans got a very nice opportunity to score, but Damian Keane was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 68th minute Lenny Horner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Damian Keane saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lenny Horner in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Damian Keane saved Renton United from getting behind. In the 73rdth minute of the game Lenny Horner who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Renton United's Damian Keane was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jay Peat received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Stuart Sawyer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Renton United's Matthew Bartlett got a free kick in the 81st minute. Stuart Sawyer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jay Peat in the 89th minute of play. After 97 minutes of play, Renton United's Fred Toovey made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Stuart Sawyer was left in no man's land by his defense there! For all the effort they put into the match, the Beverley Saints F.C. players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Renton United.
