Mildenhall FC
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Andre Cavanagh got the match started through his kick off. In the 2nd match minute, Mildenhall FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Phil Vaughn to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stan Penn in the 4th minute of play forced Mildenhall FC's goalkeeper Duncan Chadwick to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stan Penn in the 5th minute of play forced Mildenhall FC's goalkeeper Duncan Chadwick to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 6th minute, Owen Wilberforce made a precise shot to the right of Duncan Chadwick. Mildenhall FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 15th minute of the match Mildenhall FC got a corner. Woolton's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Phil Vaughn ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 16th minute, Stan Penn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Mildenhall FC's zone, Owen Wilberforce stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duncan Chadwick came out of the goal and Owen Wilberforce tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dennis Swanson got free with Leroy Floyd in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Phil Vaughn received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Leroy Floyd came out and tried to block the shot, but Phil Vaughn slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 22nd minute. 26 minutes into the game, Owen Wilberforce cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Duncan Chadwick was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Pierce Rutherford was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 29 minutes into the match. Mildenhall FC:s Duncan Chadwick showed great skill when he stopped Lance MacDonald:s penalty. After a long run with the ball, Lance MacDonald did a trick in the 32nd minute in front of Mildenhall FC's goalkeeper, who threw himself to the side. After that it was simple to shoot 1-3. An impressive performance by Woolton's Lance MacDonald! Duncan Chadwick showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andre Cavanagh, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Leroy Floyd took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Loyd Tyson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Duncan Chadwick showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andre Cavanagh in the 43rd minute of the match. Woolton's Leroy Floyd proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Woolton from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Woolton's Derek Robson got a free kick in the 47th minute. Leroy Floyd made a fantastic save in the 48th minute, when Dennis Swanson sent off a good shot on target. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Phil Vaughn stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Andre Cavanagh's late challenge caught a Mildenhall FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Andre Cavanagh helped the player get up and apologised. After 52 played minutes Woolton got a freekick which was hit by Andre Cavanagh. Phil Vaughn recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Duncan Chadwick showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andre Cavanagh, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. 58 minutes into the match, Woolton's goal looked a bit too open when Phil Vaughn came free, but Leroy Floyd reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 59 minutes had been played when some careless play by Woolton's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Phil Vaughn was slow to take the kick. During this time Mildenhall FC's players had a chance to rest. Leroy Floyd showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dennis Swanson, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. The supporters of Mildenhall FC booed when Woolton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andre Cavanagh didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Woolton's goalkeeper Leroy Floyd, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Duncan Chadwick took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andre Cavanagh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Dennis Swanson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 76 minutes into the match, Mildenhall FC's goal looked a bit too open when Andre Cavanagh came free, but Duncan Chadwick reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Christian Burns's late challenge caught a Mildenhall FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Christian Burns helped the player get up and apologised. The referee gave Mildenhall FC a penalty, 79 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Phil Vaughn, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Woolton's Leroy Floyd. 3-3. 84 minutes into the game, Derek Robson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Woolton's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mildenhall FC the free kick. A collision led to Woolton getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Derek Robson hit a great ball. In the 85th match minute, Mildenhall FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Loyd Tyson to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Owen Wilberforce got free with Duncan Chadwick in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Stan Penn kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Phil Vaughn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leroy Floyd having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Woolton walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
