In the 16th match minute, FC ČOV Svätý Jur was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marek Šajna to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Miroslav Feja in the 19th minute of play forced FC ČOV Svätý Jur's goalkeeper Matúš Kmiť to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Antón Gombuš who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 22ndth minute tested the skills of Ján Hlavatý when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The tension between the FK Púchov and the FC ČOV Svätý Jur players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to FK Púchov getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. FK Púchov's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC ČOV Svätý Jur the free kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Matúš Kudrnatý in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ján Hlavatý saved FK Púchov from getting behind. Branislav Janovský's late challenge caught a FC ČOV Svätý Jur's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Branislav Janovský helped the player get up and apologised. After 59 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for FK Púchov! When Miroslav Feja came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the FK Púchov fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Miroslav Feja couldn't finish the play. Erik Semanovič fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matúš Kmiť having to interfere. FK Púchov's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
