After 6 played minutes HIT Gorica got a freekick which was hit by Istok Šabotić. Julij Klinec scored 1-0 in the 9th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lan Šorli, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 11 played minutes nk.topničarji got a freekick which was hit by Sani Kompara. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind nk.topničarji's goalkeeper Vasilije Kač, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A hard shot 18 in the game by Julij Klinec from a close distance when the talented Lan Šorli managed to make a qualified save. HIT Gorica's players were relieved. The crowd rose to their feet as Ordančo Virant kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lan Šorli. That made the score 2-0 in the 28 minute of play. When Demeter Denac came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the HIT Gorica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Demeter Denac couldn't finish the play. In the 37th minute Ordančo Virant shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lan Šorli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of nk.topničarji booed when HIT Gorica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anis Doberšek didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind HIT Gorica's goalkeeper Lan Šorli, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Ordančo Virant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, HIT Gorica's Lan Šorli got control of the ball when Matjaž Bilič tried to sneak it across the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sani Kompara made a kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Matjaž Bilič was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. nk.topničarji's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave HIT Gorica the free kick. After a rather tough play, nk.topničarji's Matjaž Bilič got a free kick in the 53rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ordančo Virant in the 55th minute of play forced HIT Gorica's goalkeeper Lan Šorli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 57th minute, Istok Šabotić got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to nk.topničarji getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Chris Pemič hit a great ball. After 59 played minutes, HIT Gorica's Istok Šabotić shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Vasilije Kač came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in HIT Gorica reached it. Lan Šorli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sani Kompara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 63rd minute of the match, Demeter Denac got a very nice opportunity to score, but Vasilije Kač was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 65th minute Sani Kompara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lan Šorli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 67th minute, HIT Gorica's Rastislav Tomič seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Rastislav Tomič the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of HIT Gorica protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Rastislav Tomič had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in HIT Gorica fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 66th minute. Penalty! If Julij Klinec had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 74 minutes into the match, HIT Gorica's goal looked a bit too open when Matjaž Bilič came free, but Lan Šorli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lan Šorli came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by nk.topničarji's Matjaž Bilič. But to his dismay, Matjaž Bilič quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. Ordančo Virant kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. After a rather tough play, HIT Gorica's Richard Koštomaj got a free kick in the 84th minute. In the 86th minute, Ordančo Virant ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lan Šorli was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. Julij Klinec took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lan Šorli. Lan Šorli dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-0. After a rather tough play, HIT Gorica's Anis Doberšek got a free kick in the 96th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Luca Mihajloski managed to get in a good position for a shot. nk.topničarji's supporters rose to their feet, but Luca Mihajloski was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lan Šorli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Julij Klinec had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. There was no doubt that nk.topničarji were the better team. nk.topničarji's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
