The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Saša Ajdič during the 6th minute. Ricardinho Matorin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kvirin Zgonc in the 22nd minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, Trebnje NK's goalkeeper Ricardinho Matorin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Norbert Sešek. After a rather tough play, Kočevje FC's Tit Markon got a free kick in the 31st minute. 32 minutes into the game, Trebnje NK's Stevan Metzkar nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Feliks Šenk made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. In the 36th minute Claudio Vurkeljc shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardinho Matorin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ricardinho Matorin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudio Vurkeljc, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mervan Makarić in the 41st minute of play forced Kočevje FC's goalkeeper Feliks Šenk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Kočevje FC's Claudio Vurkeljc slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ricardinho Matorin. That made the score 1-3 after 46 minutes of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Claudio Vurkeljc made a kick off. Danče Slokar kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Stevan Metzkar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Trebnje NK's supporters rose to their feet, but Stevan Metzkar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Feliks Šenk breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 60th minute, Matijaž Šikman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Saša Ajdič got his second yellow card in the match during the 64th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Kočevje FC booed when Trebnje NK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Saša Ajdič didn't get a good kick on the ball. Norbert Sešek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 78th minute, Rajmund Dobnikar left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Kočevje FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. A hard shot 83 in the game by Stevan Metzkar from a close distance when the talented Feliks Šenk managed to make a qualified save. Kočevje FC's players were relieved. Mervan Makarić sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Aziz Švegl came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Trebnje NK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aziz Švegl couldn't finish the play.
