Torino's Charles Bergren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars-Erik Hermansson in the 35th minute of play. Lars-Erik Hermansson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Charles Bergren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Charles Bergren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nils Hjortsberg in the 41st minute of play. If Lars-Erik Hermansson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Eskilstuna's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Valentin Nyman was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nils Hjortsberg couldn't finish the play. After 87 minutes, Carl Håkansson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Torino and the Eskilstuna players grew even worse after the yellow card.
