The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The long shot by Axel Björklund in the 4th minute really tested Osvald Håkansson's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Douglas Wester managed to get in a good position for a shot. Flen FF's supporters rose to their feet, but Douglas Wester was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Osvald Håkansson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Osvald Håkansson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tobias Källberg in the 12th minute of play. When Jan-Ove Åberg fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SIF Akademi's protests and gave Jan-Ove Åberg a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, SIF Akademi's Jan-Ove Åberg got a free kick in the 15th minute. Fredrik Ivarsson's late challenge caught a SIF Akademi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fredrik Ivarsson helped the player get up and apologised. In the 20th minute, Fredrik Ivarsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 21 minutes into the match, Magne Brogren notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Flen FF's Kjell Mårtensson. Kjell Mårtensson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Kjell Mårtensson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elliot Ström, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. 36 minutes into the game, Allan Göransson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. SIF Akademi's Osvald Håkansson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tobias Källberg in the 46th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Elliot Ström made a kick off. Osvald Håkansson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bertil Ahlström in the 51st minute of play. 57 minutes into the game, Magne Brogren was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SIF Akademi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Flen FF the free kick. Magne Brogren hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Carl Ahlrot missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 58 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Osvald Håkansson right hand side. Osvald Håkansson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Flen FF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bertil Ahlström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of SIF Akademi booed when Flen FF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Douglas Wester didn't get a good kick on the ball. Flen FF's Kjell Mårtensson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Flen FF from getting a goal against them. Tobias Källberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Osvald Håkansson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
