The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carl Almkvist made a kick off. Södra Sunderbyn's supporters crossed their fingers, but Douglas Nilsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 90 minutes into the match, Lars Säf had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mats Ahlquist. La Vecchia Signora's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lars Säf was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Södra Sunderbyn's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
