The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Aldo Paul showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kurt Kruse in the 3rd minute of the match. After 14 minutes, Viktor Byström made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Skålbo FF's Carl Ek tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 20th minute, Jens-Ove Ahlström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Richard Morat charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The audience was convinced that Viktor Byström's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carl Ek was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. After having played for 32 minutes, Gunnar Örtlund managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Skillingaryd IFK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gunnar Örtlund was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 34 minutes into the game, Bernt Lundgren threw the ball into play from the sideline. Skillingaryd IFK's Per Sillén quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Per Sillén managed to get in a good position for a shot. Skillingaryd IFK's supporters rose to their feet, but Per Sillén was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carl Ek breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Viktor Byström might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carl Ek. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Viktor Byström ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Skålbo FF's zone, Viktor Byström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carl Ek came out of the goal and Viktor Byström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After 54 played minutes Skålbo FF got a freekick which was hit by Kenny Wallman. The supporters of Skillingaryd IFK booed when Skålbo FF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kurt Kruse didn't get a good kick on the ball. Viktor Byström scored 2-1 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carl Ek, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Pål Hellström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carl Ek having to interfere. Carl Ek came out of the goal in the 64th minute to try and stop a shot by Skillingaryd IFK's Viktor Byström. But to his dismay, Viktor Byström quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Thor Örtendal took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 68th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Carl Ek. Skålbo FF's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Skillingaryd IFK's Gunnar Örtlund quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Kjell-Arne Fernström, made in the 69th minute of the game. 75 minutes into the game, Skillingaryd IFK's Viktor Byström nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carl Ek made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. In the 81st minute, Viktor Byström made a precise shot to the right of Carl Ek. Skålbo FF's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-1. Viktor Byström blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carl Ek having to make a save. In the 96th match minute, Skillingaryd IFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thor Örtendal to maneuver through the defense. The audience held their breath when Karl Sandberg in the 98th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Aldo Paul's left hand side. When the referee ended the match the Skillingaryd IFK players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
