Calle Josefsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thomas Bagge showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Magnus Emander, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Calle Josefsson in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thomas Bagge saved Mustalainen Lahti FC from getting behind. Thomas Bagge showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leif Lövskog in the 17th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vidar Rang during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Vidar Rang hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Sven-Erik Månsson, 26 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After a rather tough play, Mustalainen Lahti FC's Manfred Asserlind got a free kick in the 27th minute. Calle Josefsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thomas Bagge read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 44th minute by Jan-Olof Harman got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Jan-Olof Harman struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Sture Wickander didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mustalainen Lahti FC. After a defensive mix-up in IF Eksjö Fotboll's zone, Ernst Fagerberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sture Wickander came out of the goal and Ernst Fagerberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Calle Josefsson made the kick off in the second half. Thomas Bagge showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Calle Josefsson in the 52nd minute of the match. Magnus Emander received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Thomas Bagge tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mikael Sandberg during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 60 played minutes IF Eksjö Fotboll got a freekick which was hit by Mikael Sandberg. Ernst Fagerberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Mikael Sandberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thomas Bagge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Calle Josefsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Henry Bokelund fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mustalainen Lahti FC's protests and gave Henry Bokelund a yellow card for diving instead. In the 70th minute, one of Mustalainen Lahti FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mustalainen Lahti FC. When the match had been going on for 72 minutes, IF Eksjö Fotboll's Sven-Erik Månsson got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Thomas Bagge. Calle Josefsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Bagge having to interfere. If Magnus Emander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mustalainen Lahti FC's Ernst Fagerberg got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in IF Eksjö Fotboll's zone, Jan-Olof Harman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sture Wickander came out of the goal and Jan-Olof Harman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Ernst Fagerberg came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Mustalainen Lahti FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ernst Fagerberg couldn't finish the play. Sture Wickander made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan-Olof Harman in the 89th minute of play. 93 minutes into the match, Manfred Asserlind had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sture Wickander. IF Eksjö Fotboll's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Manfred Asserlind was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2.
