Damian Kolba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roland Sadlowski having to interfere. 18 minutes into the match, Newport's Damian Kolba sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Roland Sadlowski narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 19th minute, Ziemowit Cholewa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Szczepan Tobaczewski during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Newport booed when Skiby was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Szczepan Tobaczewski didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th minute of the match Newport got a corner. Skiby's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tanek Lewkowicz ran over to the corner to take the kick. Newport's Tanek Lewkowicz was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Roland Sadlowski in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 26 played minutes Newport got a freekick which was hit by Ziemowit Cholewa. Juliusz Harendarski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pawel Piglowski in the 27th minute of the match. Pawel Piglowski scored 0-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Juliusz Harendarski, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Juliusz Harendarski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zula Arnista, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. In the 36th minute Pawel Piglowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juliusz Harendarski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Damian Kolba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Antoni Hejza was the one to do the kick off. The audience held their breath when Franciszek Kaczorowski in the 80th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Juliusz Harendarski's left hand side. After having played for 84 minutes, Damian Kolba managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newport's supporters crossed their fingers, but Damian Kolba was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Roland Sadlowski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antoni Hejza in the 85th minute of play. 87 minutes into the match, Newport's goalkeeper Juliusz Harendarski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pawel Piglowski. Ziemowit Cholewa was shown his second yellow card after 88 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 88th minute, Ziemowit Cholewa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pawel Piglowski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 99 minutes into the game, Newport's Damian Kolba nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Roland Sadlowski made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
