Jøran Løver showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cai Krogstad in the 8th minute of the match. Bård Engum's late challenge caught a Rjukan IL's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bård Engum helped the player get up and apologised. In the 12th minute, Bård Engum hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cai Krogstad sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 25th minute, Hans Bjørnsen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lars-Olav Berdal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brede Vollan in the 32nd minute of play. David Natland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cai Krogstad received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Jøran Løver tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jøran Løver made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cai Krogstad in the 39th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Rjukan IL's Alf Askeland got a free kick in the 45th minute. In the 47th minute, David Natland got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Brede Vollan was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Thomas Lilleng managed to get in a good position for a shot. Heimsnes FF's supporters rose to their feet, but Thomas Lilleng was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lars-Olav Berdal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Espen Bjørge received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jøran Løver came out and tried to block the shot, but Espen Bjørge slotted it home off the left post making it 0-1 in the 60th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hans Bjørnsen got free with Jøran Løver in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thomas Lilleng received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Lars-Olav Berdal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 76 played minutes Rjukan IL got a freekick which was hit by Helge Skjolden. David Natland recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 80 minutes, Brede Vollan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Heimsnes FF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brede Vollan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lars-Olav Berdal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brede Vollan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Brede Vollan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Rjukan IL eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
