Arild Høie hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Sagfjord IL's Daniel Løvik tried to score from far away in the 4th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Trond Havik sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 11 minutes into the game, Trond Havik cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Fred Haagensen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Peter Neverdal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 16 minutes into the match, Nykland BK's goal looked a bit too open when Trond Havik came free, but Fred Haagensen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 17 minutes, Peter Neverdal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sagfjord IL's supporters crossed their fingers, but Peter Neverdal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Trond Havik came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Sagfjord IL fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Trond Havik couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Nykland BK getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Jo Godø hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Nykland BK's zone, Peter Neverdal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fred Haagensen came out of the goal and Peter Neverdal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aslak Forbord showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kristian Heggdal in the 25th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trond Havik in the 27th minute of play forced Nykland BK's goalkeeper Fred Haagensen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 34th minute Kristian Heggdal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aslak Forbord saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kristian Heggdal struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Aslak Forbord didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nykland BK. In a very dangerous position, a player in Sagfjord IL fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 38th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Aslak Forbord, was totally fooled by Nykland BK's Thomas Syvertsen, who 40 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Aslak Forbord made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Halvor Sørbø sent off a good shot on target. Jon Huus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 49th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Trond Havik made a kick off. A hard shot 53 in the game by Trond Havik from a close distance when the talented Fred Haagensen managed to make a qualified save. Nykland BK's players were relieved. In the 61st minute of the match Odin Sæthre shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fred Haagensen showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Kristian Heggdal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aslak Forbord made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jon Huus in the 71st minute of play. Trond Havik received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Fred Haagensen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 77 minutes into the game, Jo Godø was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Nykland BK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sagfjord IL the free kick. Jo Godø kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. If Kristian Heggdal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Trond Havik managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sagfjord IL's supporters rose to their feet, but Trond Havik was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fred Haagensen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
