In the 8thth minute of the game Dirk Zijlstra who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vemde FC's Gertjan Degens was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Dirk Zijlstra's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gertjan Degens was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. Gertjan Degens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dirk Zijlstra, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. In the 28th minute, Wilco Kloppenburg left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Neersteind HC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. The Vemde FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gertjan Degens should have stopped the shot. In the 42nd minute, Pieter Sloothaak hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pieter-Jan Kloppenburg's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kevin Salens read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. Kevin Salens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Franck Lange, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. In the 46th match minute, Neersteind HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Casper van den Berg to maneuver through the defense.

The wind increased when Franck Lange made the kick off in the second half. Franck Lange sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Vemde FC booed when Neersteind HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabiën Elst didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kevin Salens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Franck Lange, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Bas van der Vaart fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vemde FC's protests and gave Bas van der Vaart a yellow card for diving instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Dirk Zijlstra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Neersteind HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dirk Zijlstra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gertjan Degens breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gertjan Degens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dirk Zijlstra in the 93rd minute of play. With a little luck, Vemde FC's Gertjan Degens got control of the ball when Wilco Kloppenburg tried to sneak it across the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded.
