In the 25th minute, Dimitrie Lyle ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Henry Broos was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Ryan Cardinaal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Philip Scheer, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Harry Windmuller in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Henry Broos saved Asschot RKSV from getting behind. When Martijn Waard came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the FC Vlaardingen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martijn Waard couldn't finish the play. Henry Broos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dimitrie Lyle in the 47th minute of the match. The Asschot RKSV players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. FC Vlaardingen were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Harry Windmuller to make the kick off. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 71st minute of the game. One of FC Vlaardingen:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Asschot RKSV:s goal. After 73 minutes of play, Asschot RKSV's Ton Seinstra made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Henry Broos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Vlaardingen. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dimitrie Lyle in the 82nd minute of play forced Asschot RKSV's goalkeeper Henry Broos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
