Arjan Bruin made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Jurgen Haken sent off a good shot on target. vv akkrum's Reinhard Meulenbergh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bob Hoogland in the 6th minute of play. Sven Maseland was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 10 minutes into the match. In the 9th minute, one of vv akkrum:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for vv akkrum. In the 11th minute there was a penalty for Etten-Leur. Bastiaan Idelberger stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Reinhard Meulenbergh. 0-1. The supporters of Etten-Leur booed when vv akkrum was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jurgen Haken didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jurgen Haken fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arjan Bruin having to interfere. After having played for 22 minutes, Erwin Eylens managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. vv akkrum's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erwin Eylens was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Erwin Eylens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bob Hoogland in the 26th minute of play forced vv akkrum's goalkeeper Reinhard Meulenbergh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bastiaan Idelberger's late challenge caught a vv akkrum's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bastiaan Idelberger helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of vv akkrum booed when Etten-Leur was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bastiaan Idelberger didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bob Hoogland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arjan Bruin didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 46th minute, which inside left pole to 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Erwin Eylens was the one to do the kick off. After some careless play in the vv akkrum defense, Hans Bijl kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Reinhard Meulenbergh. The vv akkrum fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Reinhard Meulenbergh should have stopped the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Hans Bijl kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Reinhard Meulenbergh. That made the score 1-3 in the 66 minute of play. Sebastiaan Rodenberg charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sebastiaan Rodenberg the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Etten-Leur's Sebastiaan Rodenberg got a free kick in the 70th minute. After 72 played minutes, vv akkrum's Nick Hulsebos shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Arjan Bruin came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in vv akkrum reached it. Erwin Eylens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Reinhard Meulenbergh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hans Bijl, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Erwin Eylens managed to get in a good position for a shot. vv akkrum's supporters rose to their feet, but Erwin Eylens was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arjan Bruin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Etten-Leur's Arjan Bruin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erwin Eylens in the 93rd minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Etten-Leur had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
