Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Jan Wijngaart started the match with the kick off. In the 2nd match minute, Simpelveld FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jan Wijngaart to maneuver through the defense. Jan Wijngaart received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Leendert Meulenbergh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jochem Lammens recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Jochem Lammens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 25 minutes into the game, Wessel Velthuis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sparta Rotterdam's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Simpelveld FC the free kick. 25 minutes into the game, one of Sparta Rotterdam:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Jochem Lammens put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Leendert Meulenbergh. Vincent Opdam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan van Fessum having to interfere. Leendert Meulenbergh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jan Wijngaart in the 37th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jan Wijngaart in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leendert Meulenbergh saved Sparta Rotterdam from getting behind. Leendert Meulenbergh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jan Wijngaart in the 40th minute of the match. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mike Ijksma stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Billy Borg had to leave the field with a concussion. Remco Kruis charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Remco Kruis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 52nd minute, Remco Kruis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 54 minutes into the match, Sparta Rotterdam's goalkeeper Leendert Meulenbergh had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jochem Lammens. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sparta Rotterdam's goalkeeper Leendert Meulenbergh, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 58th minute, Mike Ijksma got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Patrick Roordink struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Jan van Fessum didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sparta Rotterdam. Simpelveld FC's Jochem Lammens got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 65 minutes into the game, Simpelveld FC's Jaap Vonk nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Leendert Meulenbergh made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Jochem Lammens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Leendert Meulenbergh made a huge save. If Jochem Lammens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th minute, Jan Wijngaart ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Leendert Meulenbergh was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. Jan Wijngaart fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leendert Meulenbergh having to interfere. The Sparta Rotterdam fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Simpelveld FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
