In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Halton Holegate AFC's goalkeeper Adegun Elejiko, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Adegun Elejiko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adolphus Enebechi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Halton Holegate AFC's Olisanugo Achilike got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Prince Onyema charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Prince Onyema the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Margate booed when Halton Holegate AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Prince Onyema didn't get a good kick on the ball. Halton Holegate AFC's Adegun Elejiko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raymond Akiti in the 40th minute of play. 41 minutes into the game, Duada Hashimu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Halton Holegate AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Margate the free kick. In the 41st match minute, Halton Holegate AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Duada Hashimu to maneuver through the defense. Adegun Elejiko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raymond Akiti, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adolphus Enebechi in the 43rd minute of play forced Halton Holegate AFC's goalkeeper Adegun Elejiko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Halton Holegate AFC's Adegun Elejiko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adolphus Enebechi in the 46th minute of play. 53 minutes into the match, Adolphus Enebechi dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Adegun Elejiko, 0-1. If Raymond Akiti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Halton Holegate AFC getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Duada Hashimu hit a great ball. In the 69th minute, Adolphus Enebechi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Raymond Akiti blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adegun Elejiko having to make a save. Adegun Elejiko made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Raymond Akiti sent off a good shot on target. In the 78th minute, Olisanugo Achilike got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Margate's zone, Osar Ayara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tasiu Onwuzuruike came out of the goal and Osar Ayara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 84 played minutes Halton Holegate AFC got a freekick which was hit by Gidon Adeleke. After having played for 92 minutes, Osar Ayara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Halton Holegate AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Osar Ayara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Osar Ayara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 95 played minutes Margate got a freekick which was hit by Anthony John. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Margate eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
