The audience thought a goal was coming when Justin Micallef got free with Keith Cumbo in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 30 minutes into the match, Marsa FC's goal looked a bit too open when Evan Gafà came free, but Tim Dimech reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Justin Micallef charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Justin Micallef the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 32nd minute Evan Gafà shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tim Dimech saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tim Dimech took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alex Ghigo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mario Borg Xuereb who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 74thth minute tested the skills of Tim Dimech when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Mario Borg Xuereb's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tim Dimech was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. Tim Dimech was out of position in the 76 minute of play, and Alex Ghigo capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Alex Ghigo really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4.
