After a defensive mix-up in Għaxaq St Paul's zone, Keith Xuereb stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clayvon Gatt came out of the goal and Keith Xuereb tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Keith Xuereb in the 7th minute of play forced Għaxaq St Paul's goalkeeper Clayvon Gatt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Clayvon Gatt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Keith Xuereb in the 10th minute of the match. If Keith Xuereb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Marsa FC's Keith Xuereb in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Għaxaq St Paul's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bjorn Pace Bonello in the 17th minute of play forced Għaxaq St Paul's goalkeeper Clayvon Gatt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Keith Xuereb in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Clayvon Gatt prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Clayvon Gatt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Justin Micallef went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 23rd minute Keith Xuereb shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clayvon Gatt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A nice corner shot did that Ben Lia got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Clayvon Gatt quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Luciano Polidano kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Keith Xuereb in the 33rd minute of play forced Għaxaq St Paul's goalkeeper Clayvon Gatt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 34th minute, Justin Micallef got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ben Lia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 43 minutes Għaxaq St Paul's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ben Lia who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Marsa FC's corner Ben Lia fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Clayvon Gatt quite easily take care of the ball. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 52nd minute, Ben Lia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Clayvon Gatt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Keith Xuereb, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Marsa FC's Tim Dimech played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by James Harmsworth in the 60th minute of play. In the 67thth minute of the game Keith Xuereb who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Għaxaq St Paul's Clayvon Gatt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Bjorn Pace Bonello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 77 minutes, Keith Xuereb managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marsa FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Keith Xuereb was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Clayton Debattista charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Clayton Debattista the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Għaxaq St Paul getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Clayton Debattista hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 85 minutes, Keith Xuereb put it in 0-5 from a short distance just to the right of Clayvon Gatt. Keith Xuereb struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Clayvon Gatt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marsa FC. Tim Dimech made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nikolai Mercieca in the 93rd minute of play.
